The purpose of the Samuel S. Foulk Memorial Scholarship is to honor the memory of Samuel Foulk, a UC Davis School of Law alumnus. Sam was born and brought up in Newport News, Virginia. He earned a B.A. in Classics from Xavier University, Cincinnati, in 1966, an M.A. from the University of Colorado in 1969, a J.D. from the University of California, Davis in 1980, and an LL.M. degree in tax from New York University in 1982. After graduating from Davis, Sam clerked for the Idaho Supreme Court in 1980-81. From 1983 until his death in 2002, he worked in the Employee Benefits practice of PriceWaterhouse (later Pricewaterhouse Coopers) in San Francisco where he achieved national distinction in Mergers and Acquisitions work, particularly in the area of "Golden Parachutes." Over many years he was a generous benefactor of the UC Davis School of Law. The sisters and friends of Sam Foulk established this scholarship in July 2002.
